Letting agent escapes jail after fraud case March 8, 2016

A former letting agent manager has escaped jail after fraud. Seun Alliu worked for Andrews Lettings Agency in Morden, Surrey, between 2011 and 2013.

He forged tenancy details, including falsifying people’s incomes, in order to obtain references from referencing service Let Risk. Premises were then let out for purposes such as brothels and cannabis factories.

Alliu was aided by his former girlfriend, Dora Vasas, who had never worked for Andrews, but who also forged tenancy details.

Yesterday, at Kingston Crown Court, Alliu was handed an 18-month suspended sentence and 200 hours of community action.

A spokesperson for Andrews yesterday said: “We informed police as soon as we realised, through our routine compliance checks, that there were problems with the way in which Alliu was operating, and have continued to comply fully with their investigation since then. “We have also, naturally, worked hard to maintain the positive relationships we have with both landlords and tenants and a thorough audit of every property that Alliu could have contact with has been carried out.”
